Office of General Counsel Reports To: Interim General Counsel Position Summary: The Deputy General Counsel – Real Estate is a vital part of the team devoted to preserving and creating affordable housing resources. Provide assistance in corporate counsel responsibilities related to the governing Board, affiliates, Executive Team, other senior executives and Business Units. Must be results oriented and able to function in a moderately-paced collegial in-house counsel office. Requires a Juris Doctorate degree from an accredited law school and an ideal candidate has at least 15+ years of experience working on complex real estate transactions or other related experience and experience supervising attorneys and other legal professionals. Large law firm, government agency or in-house counsel experience a plus, but not required.
The Attorney for Real Estate Transactions reports to the SVP Legal and Associate General Counsel and supports MAA by actively supporting real estate transactions related to acquisitions, dispositions, and related real estate development ventures.. Primarily focused on acquisitions and dispositions, the position provides legal expertise to real estate development transactions and supports Treasury in secured and unsecured loan transactions and bond financing.. Assists with day-to-day legal issues related to declarations, reciprocal easement agreements, joint venture agreements, loan documents, commercial leases, utility easements, and other agreements..
