Understanding of energy data concepts (e.g., electricity consumption, natural gas usage, renewable energy generation) and emissions accounting principles (e.g., GHG Protocol). Experience in climate and energy policy; familiarity at the local and global level. Experience in clean energy technologies, from R&D stages to commercialized and market ready; includes renewable energy, energy efficiency, and low carbon fuels

Ensures proper storage, transportation, and disposal of hazardous waste in compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. Maintains accurate records and documentation related to hazardous waste management activities, including manifests, permits, and safety data sheets (SDS). Monitors and assesses environmental impacts associated with hazardous waste management. Oversees the distribution and use of appropriate PPE for employees involved in hazardous waste management activities. Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Health, or related field preferred.

This role is pivotal in shaping the District's environmental future by advancing initiatives that support energy and water conservation, zero waste, greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions reduction, and green building certifications. Develops, assesses, and updates the District's sustainability policies and plans for the built environment strategy, GHG (greenhouse gas) emissions reduction plan, energy and water conservation plans, zero waste plan, and green building certifications. Leads and participates in planning groups related to Districtwide Waste Management, Water Conservation, Air Quality, Renewable Energy, Energy Conservation, Carbon Reduction, and Communications and Controls. Green Building (LEED) certification, Certified Energy Manager credential, International Facility Management Association Sustainability Facility Management certification or other related certifications. Expert understanding of sustainable practices and policies, including greenhouse gas emissions reduction, energy and water conservation, zero waste initiatives, and green building certifications.
