DESIGNER I - INTERIOR DESIGNER (1 - 2 years of experience)DESIGNER II - INTERIOR DESIGNER (2 - 5 years of experience) Position is full-time with benefits partially covered by the employer (Health, Vision, Dental Insurance), two weeks of paid vacation plus one week of sick time, additional paid time off between Christmas and New Years, opportunity to participate in Simple IRA, and employer support of pre-approved professional development opportunities.

JOB DESCRIPTION: (S)
Across each level, Harken Interiors is seeking innovative, hard-working designers with a foundation in hospitality design and entrepreneurial spirit. Ideal candidates will bring a blend of creative curiosity and technical savvy working through each phase of design at their level. We care about kind collaboration, rigorous process, curious exploration, and determined resourcefulness as we work as a team towards the BEST answer for our clients and end-users. DESIGNER IResponsibilities include but are not limited to contributing to conceptual research and design direction; mentoring interns in professional growth; significantly contributing to CAD drawings, SketchUp models, and Enscape renderings; contributing to space planning iterations; selecting, researching, and vetting FF&E and material selections; writing FF&E specifications in Studio Designer; working within budgets, schedules, and staffing projections while informing senior staff of potential variances; and developing content and graphics for client presentations with client feedback in consideration. Designer Is are responsible for clearly communicating within internal project teams and being aware of and participating in client presentations and project team correspondence. It is critical to show interest and initiative in developing trusted rep and manufacturer relationships to benefit project FF&E and material development as well as material library variety. Additional responsibilities include creating, organizing, and maintaining meeting minutes, electronic project data, and physical project samples and submittals. Knowledge, Skills, & AbilitiesBachelor's degree in Interior Design, Interior Architecture, or Architecture from an accredited program Work or internship experience in a design firm with exposure to drafting and FF&E development; hospitality experience a plus Strong time-management, organizational, and communication skills to handle production across multiple deadlines in various stages of developmentCapacity to seek potential solutions through self-initiated research; ability to take direction from peers and senior staff, articulate workflow status, and provide support to interns Exceptional communication skills to process diverse information and instructions, ask questions and confirm understanding, and provide proactive updates to senior staff Ability to produce layouts in Indesign with attention to detail, consistency, and graphic appeal Aptitude to produce detailed custom FF&E and material specifications; ability to seek and manage technical, pricing, and lead time data General understanding of design principles, theory, and the commercial/hospitality construction documentation process; Aptitude to contribute to a full architectural drawing set, initiate details, and participate in contract administration General understanding of building systems, codes, and ADA requirements Solid knowledge in Microsoft Office, CAD, Photoshop, InDesign, SketchUp or an alternate 3D Modeling program, Enscape or alternate rendering program, Studio Designer or similar spec writing programsDESIGNER IIResponsibilities include but are not limited to contributing to conceptual research and design direction; mentoring junior designers through all project phases; setting up, executing, and maintaining CAD drawings, SketchUp models, and Enscape renderings; developing thoughtful space planning iterations; selecting, researching, and vetting FF&E and material selections; writing FF&E specifications in Studio Designer; working within budgets, schedules, and staffing projections while informing senior staff of potential variances; and developing content and graphics for client presentations and resolving client feedback. Designer IIs are responsible for clearly communicating within internal project teams, participating in client presentations and project team correspondence, and developing strong relationships with reps and manufacturers. Additional responsibilities include creating, organizing, and maintaining meeting minutes, electronic project data, and physical project samples and submittals. Knowledge, Skills, & AbilitiesBachelor's degree in Interior Design, Interior Architecture, or Architecture from an accredited program Minimum of two years of work experience in a design firm with demonstrated success in drafting and FF&E through all phases of the design process; hospitality experience highly desired Strong time-management, organizational, and communication skills to handle production across multiple deadlines in various stages of developmentCapacity to work self-sufficiently and think independently within a collaborative effort; ability to take direction from peers and senior staff, articulate workflow status, and provide direction to junior staff Exceptional overall communication and developing client management skills; strong graphic and presentation skills to produce layouts in Indesign Experience developing detailed custom FF&E and material specifications Understanding of design principles, theory, and the commercial/hospitality construction documentation process; Aptitude to complete a full architectural drawing set, develop details, and participate in contract administration Understanding of building systems, codes, and ADA requirements Extensive knowledge in Microsoft Office, CAD, Photoshop, InDesign, SketchUp or an alternate 3D Modeling program, Enscape or alternate rendering program, Studio Designer or similar spec writing programs Hospitality experience highly preferredPLEASE SUBMIT YOUR RESUME, PORTFOLIO, and REFERENCES WHEN APPLYING.
