Southern Illinois University Edwardsville: School of Pharmacy Location Edwardsville, ILOpen Date Salary Range or Pay Grade $128,000-$161,000 per year, plus $20,000 administrative stipend annually Description The Chair of the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences will provide inspirational and visionary leadership and strategic direction for the department, recruit, mentor, and support faculty and staff to achieve excellence in teaching, research, and service; foster a collaborative inclusive, and innovative departmental culture; promote and support high-impact, externally funded research programs in pharmaceutical and administrative sciences; oversee departmental operations, including budgeting, personnel management, curriculum development, and assessment; collaborate with other department chair, school and university leadership, and external partners to advance the mission of the School of Pharmacy; advocate for departmental needs within the school and university; teach and contribute to the academic programs of the school, including PharmD, MS, and PhD education; engage in professional and community service consistent with university and school goals; and, maintain scholarly research endeavors. State Qualifications: Minimum Qualificationsterminal degree (PhD or equivalent) in Pharmaceutical Sciences or closely related disciplinea distinguished record of teaching, scholarship, and service achievement, commensurate with appointment at the rank of Associate Professor or Full Professor and be eligible for tenuredemonstrated leadership experience in academic and/or research settingsproven ability to secure and manage extramural research fundingstrong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skillsscholarship within one of the field(s) of medicinal chemistry, pharmaceutics, pharmacology, or social and administrative sciences Additional Beneficial Qualificationsexperience in academic administration or past service as department chair, center director, or program leaderexperience in curriculum development and accreditation processesunderstanding of and commitment to interprofessional education and researchexperience mentoring faculty, postdocs, and studentsongoing extramural funding Application Instructions Submit letter of intent detailing interest in the position and relevant experience, curriculum vitae, vision statement for advancing pharmaceutical sciences within a School of Pharmacy and statement of teaching and research philosophy, and names and contact information for three references (references will not be contacted without candidate permission.)SIUE is a state university - benefits under state-sponsored plans may not be available to holders of F1 or J1 visas.
