General Medicine Registered Nurse

Mission Health in Asheville, NC is seeking a General Medicine Registered Nurse to deliver high-quality, patient-centered care on our acute care units. The RN will perform comprehensive assessments, administer medications and treatments, coordinate interdisciplinary care plans, and educate patients and families. Responsibilities include monitoring clinical status, responding to changes in condition, documenting in the EMR, and supporting safe transitions of care. RNs collaborate with physicians and care teams, precept new staff, and participate in quality and process improvement initiatives within our patient-focused, team-based environment. Provide comprehensive nursing assessment and patient-centered care on general medicine units Administer medications, treatments, and interventions per provider orders and nursing standards Monitor, interpret, and document patients’ clinical status and respond to changes in condition Coordinate interdisciplinary care plans and support safe transitions of care and discharge planning Educate patients and families on disease processes, medications, and self-care Use EMR systems for accurate, timely documentation and communication Collaborate with physicians, therapists, and ancillary staff to optimize outcomes Follow infection prevention, patient safety, and regulatory standards Precept and mentor new nurses and support staff as appropriate Participate in quality, safety, and process improvement initiatives Acute care nursing Patient assessment Medication administration Care planning and coordination IV therapy and phlebotomy Wound care and dressing management Electronic medical records (EMR) documentation Telemetry and vital sign monitoring Patient and family education Infection prevention and safety protocols Medical Insurance Dental Insurance Vision Insurance Life Insurance 401k Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in North Carolina or multistate compact Basic Life Support (BLS) certification Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) preferred or obtained after hire Experience with acute care or medical-surgical nursing preferred Proficiency with electronic medical records (EMR) systems
