VP Engineering - CRM & Communication Technology At Expedia Group, we help travelers explore the world, one journey at a time. As a global travel company powered by passionate people, trusted partnerships, and leading technology, we connect travelers, partners, and advertisers through our consumer brands, B2B network, and travel advertising business. Here, you'll do meaningful work that helps millions of people discover, book, and experience travel with more ease, confidence, and joy. Our five Behaviors-Traveler First, Think Big, Operate with Excellence, Ownership Mindset, and Succeed Together-help foster a supportive environment where people can grow their careers and have the flexibility, benefits, and support to do their best work. Join us and build for travelers everywhere. At Expedia Group, we're looking for an engineering executive to take on the VP Engineering - CRM & Communication Technology role. The key aspect of the role will be building and scaling a new applied science capability, transforming a traditional CRM organization into an AI-first communications and decision science organization. The Product Team creates high-quality end-to-end experiences for travelers, partners, and Expedia Group. Our customer-first mindset focuses on developing products that encourage loyalty and repeat business from our travelers and partners. We partner closely with teams across Expedia Group to achieve growth and results for our customers and company. As Senior Director of Product Management, Content, you will own the end-to-end content platform that turns traveler, creator, partner, and third-party content into trusted, personalized experiences at global scale. This includes content acquisition, verification, moderation, enrichment, distribution, licensing, and syndication across Expedia Group's brands and markets. You will report to the VP of Product and partner with Technology, Design, Legal and Policy, Data Science, Trust & Safety, Brand Marketing, and Supply.
Key Responsibilities
In this role, you will:
Set the long-term product vision and strategy for content experiences, including listings, reviews, ratings, photos, Q&A, and AI-generated summaries.
Define a data-informed roadmap that improves content coverage, freshness, quality, relevance, and trust across the traveler journey.
Establish a thoughtful strategy for using first-party and third-party content in partnership with Legal and Policy.
Champion artificial intelligence and machine learning capabilities for summary generation, structured signal extraction, moderation, and personalization.
Lead and grow a multi-layer product organization responsible for content acquisition, moderation, enrichment, and distribution.
Build the operating model, resourcing approach, talent systems, and succession plans needed to scale a shared content platform.
Set high standards for product execution, including problem framing, prototypes, success metrics, prioritization, and learning cycles.
Define guardrails for how content is collected, verified, moderated, reused, and distributed while balancing traveler trust, legal considerations, and business impact. Collaborate with brand and platform teams so content capabilities can be shared across Expedia Group rather than rebuilt independently.
Represent the content product vision in senior forums and, when appropriate, with partners, industry audiences, and external stakeholders.
Experience and Qualifications:
Required 16+ years of experience in product management or a closely related field, including 7+ years leading product managers or product leaders.
Experience setting product vision and translating strategy into focused, achievable roadmaps.
Experience with user-generated content, reviews and ratings, marketplace trust and safety, content moderation, or personalization and machine learning systems. Experience operating at the intersection of product, legal, policy, trust and safety, and regulatory requirements.
Experience in travel, e-commerce, marketplaces, or other consumer-facing digital products at scale.
Proven ability to build and lead product organizations, develop talent, and create clear expectations and accountability. Strong business acumen and the ability to balance content quality, trust, speed, customer value, and business impact. Bachelor's or master's degree in a related field or related technical field; or equivalent related professional experience.
Preferred:
Experience building or scaling a global content platform across multiple brands, markets, or business lines. Experience applying generative AI or machine learning to content discovery, summarization, moderation, personalization, or structured data. Proficient communication and executive presence, with the ability to influence across functions and seniority levels. The total cash range for this position in Seattle is $296,000.00 to $414,500.00.
