Inspector -Machine Shop

Location: Santa Fe Springs, CA

Shift: 1st Shift

Pay Rate: $24.00 / hour

Job Summary: We are seeking a detail-oriented Inspector to verify that machined and ground metal materials meet customer specifications and quality standards. This role involves measuring, documenting, and reporting on material dimensions and tolerances throughout the production process.

Key Responsibilities: Inspect metal plates and materials using precision measuring tools to verify thickness, width, length, and flatness against customer specifications. Accurately complete inspection reports for material traceability documentation (heat numbers, test numbers, and/or lot numbers).Identify and report nonconforming or out-of-tolerance materials to the lead or supervisor immediately. Maintain accurate, legible records for every batch inspected. Communicate discrepancies or quality concerns clearly and promptly. Follow all safety and quality procedures.

Qualifications: 1-2 years of experience in a machine shop or metal inspection environment preferred. Working knowledge of non-digital (analog/mechanical) micrometers preferred. Ability to read and interpret basic specifications, tolerances, and work orders. Strong attention to detail and accuracy in documentation. Basic math and measurement skills. Reliable and able to work independently with minimal supervision.

Preferred Skills: Knowledge of surface finishes and flatness requirements. Ability to handle multiple jobs and prioritize effectively across a team. Prior experience leading a shift with minimal direct supervision.

Physical Requirements: Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, and reach for long periods. Safely lift, carry, and move tools, equipment, and materials up to 50 lbs. in a machine shop environment (team lift or mechanical assistance required beyond 50 lbs.).Good manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination. Ability to climb and safely use step ladders to perform maintenance at height. Ability to safely enter and maneuver within tight or confined spaces if required.
