Role Description: The Bookkeeper role is a full-time, on-site position based in Syosset, NY. This role is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, including recording daily transactions, preparing and posting journal entries, and reconciling accounts. The Bookkeeper will manage accounts payable and receivable, assist with payroll data entry, and support the preparation of financial statements and reports. Day-to-day tasks include working within accounting software, verifying documentation, monitoring cash flow, and collaborating with management to provide timely financial information. The Bookkeeper will also assist with month-end and year-end closing activities and help ensure compliance with company policies and basic accounting standards.
Qualifications: Strong bookkeeping skills, including accurate recording of daily transactions and journal entries (Journal Entries (Accounting), Bookkeeping).Ability to prepare, review, and support basic financial statements and reports (Financial Statements, Finance).Proficiency with accounting software and related systems (Accounting Software).Solid understanding of general accounting principles and practices, preferably in a manufacturing or healthcare-related environment. Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines. Strong numerical aptitude, problem-solving skills, and comfort working with spreadsheets (e.g., Excel).Effective written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with a small, cross-functional team. High level of integrity and confidentiality when handling financial and employee information. Prior experience in bookkeeping or accounting; formal training or coursework in accounting or finance is beneficial.
