Assistant Superintendent, Park & Tree

Key Responsibilities: • Lead, supervise, instruct and train Division personnel • Manage and implement the Park and Tree Program • Plan, schedule, and direct day-to-day operations • Coordinate programs with Town boards, commissions, and members of the public • Serve as Town Arborist and Deputy Tree Warden in the Superintendent’s absence or as delegated • Administer MGL Chapters 45, 87, and 132

Requirements: • Bachelor’s degree in Arboriculture, Urban Forestry, Park Administration, or equivalent • Minimum of 5 years of experience in Arboriculture and Landscape Management or equivalent • Massachusetts Pesticide License, Right of Ways Category #40 • Massachusetts Certified Arborist, Massachusetts Certified Landscape Professional, or International Society of Arboriculture Certified Arborist • Training and/or experience in hazard tree identification and electric distribution tree clearance programs • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, Power Point) • Effective leadership, communication, time management, organizational, and public relations skills

Preferred Qualifications: • Valid MA Class B CDL and Hoisting Engineer’s License • Knowledge of GIS, lake management and treatment techniques, and Athletic Field and Playground Equipment Maintenance Programs • Experience with the media and technical presentations Expected hiring range is $97,596 to $114,676 DOQ. Full salary range up to $131,755, with benefits.
