Position Overview:
CMG Jacksonville Radio has an opening for a Part-Time On-Air Host. We are looking for engaging talent who can create a compelling show experience, not simply fill an air shift. The ideal candidate connects naturally with audiences on-air, in person, at local events, and across social media. Candidates should bring a strong work ethic, a collaborative mindset, and the ability to work within format parameters to support ratings and revenue goals. This role requires someone who understands the Jacksonville audience and lifestyle, is community-focused, and is willing to be visible and engaged at station events, promotions, and local community activities. The ideal candidate is also a strong storyteller, knows how to build forward momentum in a PPM environment, stays current with pop culture, and can create engaging social and video content. The successful candidate will also know how to effectively tease and deliver compelling content with strong pacing and timing.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Prepare for shows, including format-related, pop culture, and local content; write and post web and social media content; and write and deliver commercial or personal endorsement content.
Host regular air shifts and other voice-tracked shifts as assigned
Work closely with the program director to develop relatable content, execute the format, and support ratings goals.
Operate the control board, including editing phone segments, interviews, and other audio.
Participate in remote broadcasts, station appearances, promotional events, and community-related activities that strengthen audience engagement and local brand presence, as assigned.
Partner with sales and promotions teams to maximize revenue opportunities, including promotions and personal endorsements.
Minimum Qualifications:
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Demonstrated track record of success in ratings and revenue.
Experience operating on-air and production equipment.
Experience with audio editing software, such as Adobe Audition.
Proficiency with audio delivery and automation systems, such as Wide Orbit, as well as word processing, audio editing, web, and social media tools.
Availability to work as needed, including nights, weekends, station events, and community events.
Strong social media skills and readiness to engage with the Jacksonville community on-air, online, and through regular participation in station and community events.
Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
Preferred Qualifications:
At least one year of on-air experience; Urban radio format experience preferred.
