Auto Body Painter Helper – Automotive

Cox Automotive is seeking an Auto Body Painter Helper to support our Skilled Labor team in the Automotive industry. In this role, you will assist painters with vehicle prep, masking, priming, sanding, and finishing tasks to ensure high-quality refinishing results. Responsibilities include surface cleaning, mixing materials, maintaining spray booths and tools, moving vehicles safely, and following all safety and environmental procedures. You’ll work closely with experienced technicians, learn industry best practices, and contribute to efficient repair workflows in a fast-paced, people-first environment. Assist auto body painters with vehicle preparation, masking, and setup Sand, clean, and prime vehicle surfaces under supervision Mix paint, primer, and related materials according to specifications Maintain cleanliness and organization of spray booths and work areas Move vehicles safely in and out of work bays as directed Inspect prepped surfaces for imperfections and report issues to painters Follow all safety, environmental, and PPE procedures and guidelines Support inventory checks of paint, materials, and supplies Collaborate with technicians to meet quality and cycle-time goals Participate in ongoing training to develop refinishing skills Automotive refinishing support Surface preparation (sanding, cleaning) Masking and taping techniques Mixing paint, primer, and materials Use of hand and power tools Safe vehicle movement in shop Shop equipment maintenance and cleaning Understanding of paint booth operations Basic color matching and blending support Occupational safety and PPE compliance Medical Insurance Dental Insurance Vision Insurance Life Insurance 401k Valid driver’s license with clean driving record OSHA safety training (preferred) I-CAR Refinish or Collision courses (preferred)
