Application Engineer (power distribution)

Job Description: The Project Development Engineer serves as the technical resource for the sales team during pre-sale development. The role supports opportunity scoping, costing, application analysis, and alignment with client design intent. After award, the engineer remains involved as a system technical resource within the project management team. Assignments may include turnkey projects, equipment-only projects, and one-off specialty projects. Success in this role depends on accurate, effective project development engineering support that produces well-defined awarded projects.

Key Responsibilities: Serve as the technical liaison for the sales team throughout opportunity development. Review specifications, drawings, and customer requests to define project scope, schedule, risk, and technical delivery requirements. Develop conceptual drawing packages, including electrical one-line diagrams and site layouts. Apply commercial and industrial electrical power systems knowledge to application analysis and project estimating. Assist sales with the development of project scope, schedule, risk, and project information management requirements. Coordinate with sales, product engineering, and manufacturing leads to establish a complete and shared understanding of each project. Communicate effectively with internal team members during estimate and proposal development. Specify equipment and obtain accurate vendor quotations. Understand utility interconnection applications and support management of the interconnection process. Provide post-sale engineering support and participate in engineering project management activities. Balance multiple projects and documentation requirements while managing pre-sale and post-sale tasks within the ERP system. Contribute to new product offering discussions and maintain awareness of industry products, applications, and technology trends. Develop knowledge of the product line, business models, sales process, strategic goals, and project delivery requirements. Participate in company training, industry events, product training, certification classes, and marketing events as requested. Travel to client projects, vendors, job sites, and events when required.
