Shore Staffing, Inc. is seeking a dedicated and highly organized Certified Athletic Trainerto support a school-based athletic program in Salisbury, Maryland.
This is a full-time, 10-month position consisting of 190 contract days. The Athletic Trainer will play an essential role in protecting the health and safety of student-athletes through injury prevention, evaluation, emergency care, rehabilitation, and return-to-play support.
The ideal candidate is a strong communicator who enjoys working collaboratively with student-athletes, families, coaches, school personnel, and healthcare professionals.
Minimum Qualifications:
Must be eligible for a Maryland Athletic Trainer license
Current NATABOC/BOC certification
Current CPR/AED and First Aid certification
Knowledge of sports injury prevention, evaluation, treatment, rehabilitation, and reconditioning
Excellent communication and organizational skills
Strong attention to detail and meticulous record-keeping abilities
Ability to work effectively with student-athletes, coaches, parents, school personnel, and healthcare providers
Key Responsibilities:
Pre-Participation Coordination Coordinate with coaches and the Athletic Director to verify that student-athletes have current physical examinations and completed online medical history/registration forms before participation.
Help ensure required medical documentation is complete and properly maintained.
Injury Prevention & Athletic Care Provide first aid and emergency care to student-athletes during practices, athletic contests, and within the athletic training facility.
Evaluate athletic injuries and provide appropriate initial treatment and care.
Apply and supervise the use of protective and supportive devices, including tape, braces, and pads.
Collaborate with coaches on appropriate conditioning, strength-training, and flexibility programs.
Refer student-athletes to physicians, specialists, and other allied healthcare professionals when appropriate.
Rehabilitation & Return-to-Play Develop and manage individualized rehabilitation and reconditioning programs for injured student-athletes.
Monitor athlete recovery and document progress throughout rehabilitation.
Provide coaches with appropriate verbal updates and written injury reports.
Make professional recommendations regarding an athlete's readiness to safely return to participation.
Serve as a liaison among family physicians and specialists, the school district, student-athletes, and parents/guardians.
Athletic Event Coverage & Medical Records Provide athletic training coverage for interscholastic home contests based on injury risk, event priority, and staff availability.
Maintain accurate and timely documentation of injuries, evaluations, treatments, and rehabilitation sessions.
Communicate regularly with the school nurse regarding student-athlete injuries, treatment, and follow-up care.
Athletic Training Facility & Budget Management Oversee the day-to-day operation and organization of the athletic training room.
Assist with budget development and supply requests.
Maintain appropriate inventory of athletic training and medical supplies.
Ensure therapeutic and medical equipment is properly maintained and ready for use.
Additional Responsibilities:
Assist the Athletic Director with athletic program needs and related responsibilities as requested.
Perform other duties consistent with the responsibilities of the position.
