Job Description: Large Format Print Operator / Digital Print Production Operator
Location: Union County, NJ Job Type: Full-Time Pay: Competitive, based on experience
Position Overview: Express Employment Professionals is seeking experienced Large Format Print Operators / Digital Print Production Operators for established printing and graphics companies in Union County, NJ.We are looking for candidates with hands-on experience operating commercial digital and/or large-format printing equipment. The ideal candidate understands the complete print production process, can set up and operate equipment independently, maintain quality standards, troubleshoot common production issues, and keep jobs moving efficiently in a fast-paced environment. Candidates with experience in large-format graphics, signs, banners, displays, retail graphics, commercial printing, or high-volume digital print production are strongly encouraged to apply.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Set up, operate, and monitor large-format and digital printing equipment
  • Review job tickets, artwork specifications, dimensions, quantities, and production requirements before beginning each job
  • Load and properly handle various printing substrates and materials
  • Adjust machine settings for different materials, sizes, colors, and print specifications
  • Monitor print quality throughout production runs for consistency, registration, clarity, and overall appearance
  • Perform routine and quality checks to ensure finished products meet customer specifications
  • Identify and troubleshoot common printer, material, ink, and production issues
  • Minimize waste and maximize material utilization
  • Maintain accurate production counts and job documentation
  • Perform basic preventative maintenance, cleaning, and equipment upkeep
  • Change inks, media, substrates, and other consumable materials as required
  • Coordinate with prepress, finishing, shipping, and production teams to keep jobs on schedule
  • Assist with finishing processes when needed, including trimming, cutting, laminating, mounting, packaging, or preparing completed jobs for shipment
  • Maintain an organized, clean, and safe production area
  • Follow all company safety and quality-control procedures
Qualifications:
  • Previous experience operating large-format, wide-format, digital, or commercial printing equipment strongly Experience working in a commercial print shop, sign shop, graphics company, or print production environment
  • Knowledge of print production terminology and processes
  • Ability to read and follow job tickets, measurements, specifications, and production instructions
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to print quality
  • Mechanical aptitude and ability to troubleshoot basic equipment problems
  • Ability to work independently once trained
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, deadline-driven production environment
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and perform physical production duties
  • Reliable attendance and strong work ethic
  • Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus, but not required Experience
  • Experience with any of the following is highly desirable:
  • Large-format and wide-format printers
  • Flatbed printers
  • Roll-to-roll printing equipmentUV printing
  • Latex or solvent printing
  • High-volume digital presses
  • Commercial graphics production
  • Sign and display production
  • Vinyl and specialty substrates
  • Laminators and finishing equipment
  • Cutting, trimming, mounting, and packaging equipment matching and quality controlRIP software and digital print workflows
Ideal Candidate: The ideal candidate is someone who has worked in a professional print production environment and understands that operating the machine is only one part of the job. We are looking for someone who takes ownership of production quality, keeps equipment running efficiently, catches problems before they become costly, and consistently produces accurate, high-quality finished work. Candidates with several years of hands-on large-format or digital printing experience who can step into a production environment with minimal training will receive strong consideration.
