Flatbed CDL DriverThe Flatbed CDL Driver is responsible for safely transporting materials, equipment, and freight using a commercial flatbed truck. The driver will secure and inspect loads, complete required transportation documentation, and ensure deliveries are made safely and on schedule. This position requires experience operating commercial vehicles and properly securing flatbed loads.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities: Safely operate a Class A CDL flatbed truck for local and/or regional deliveries. Transport materials, equipment, steel, machinery, construction materials, or other freight as assigned. Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the truck, trailer, tires, brakes, lights, and safety equipment. Properly position and secure loads using chains, binders, straps, tarps, edge protectors, and other load-securement equipment. Inspect load securement before departure and periodically while in transit. Ensure loads comply with applicable weight, height, width, and securement requirements. Safely maneuver and back flatbed trailers into loading and unloading areas. Coordinate with forklift operators, crane operators, loaders, and customers during loading and unloading. Verify materials and quantities against bills of lading, delivery tickets, or shipping paperwork. Maintain required driver logs, inspection reports, delivery documentation, and other records. Follow assigned routes and delivery schedules. Immediately report accidents, equipment problems, load issues, or safety concerns. Maintain the cleanliness and general condition of assigned equipment. Follow all company safety procedures and applicable DOT regulations.
Qualifications: Valid Class A Commercial Drivers License (CDL).Acceptable driving record and ability to meet company and insurance requirements. Previous flatbed driving experience preferred. Knowledge of proper flatbed load securement and weight distribution. Ability to safely use chains, binders, straps, and tarps. Ability to perform required vehicle inspections. Ability to read shipping paperwork and follow delivery instructions. Strong safety awareness and attention to detail. Dependable and able to work independently.
Physical Requirements: Ability to climb into and out of trucks and trailers throughout the shift. Ability to bend, stoop, reach, pull, and climb while securing loads. Ability to lift and handle chains, binders, straps, tarps, and related equipment. Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions. Comfortable working around forklifts, cranes, loaders, trucks, and other heavy equipment.
