English to French - Legal (Judiciary) Translator and /or Editor

Job Description: This is a remote position. Global Language Strategies seeks a freelance/contract linguist (legal translator and/or editor) to perform legal services for a United States Government client. Must possess at least three years of experience translating and/or editing legal content with knowledge of correct U.S. legal and technical terms in English to French. This is a freelance, as-needed position and is ongoing. Applicants must be U.S. citizens willing to undergo security clearance processing and fingerprinting.

Requirements include: Three years of experience providing professional legal language services. Native French language skills are required. Extensive legal language service experience is required. Bachelor's degree in a foreign language, linguistics, or comparable field required. Must be able to use CAT tools (if translator or editor); experience using Trados required. Excellent organizational skills and understanding of language services. Advanced proficiency in reading/writing/listening and speaking in English and the target foreign language(s). Available during 9-5 EST most days to take on-demand assignments at least 15 hours per week if needed. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
