Senior Manufacturing Engineer

Location: Lansing, MI

Pay rate: $97,500 salary base +

Key Responsibilities: Manufacturing Process Development Develop, implement, and optimize manufacturing processes to improve productivity, quality, safety, and cost. Support new product launches from prototype through full production. Design and implement manufacturing work instructions, process documentation, and standardized operating procedures. Evaluate and improve manufacturing methods, tooling, fixtures, and equipment. Process Improvement Lead continuous improvement initiatives utilizing Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, Kaizen, and root cause analysis methodologies. Analyze production data to identify opportunities to improve efficiency, reduce downtime, minimize scrap, and increase overall equipment effectiveness (OEE).Drive corrective and preventive actions to improve manufacturing performance. Equipment & Automation Support installation, commissioning, and validation of new manufacturing equipment and automation systems. Collaborate with Maintenance, Controls, and Production teams to troubleshoot equipment and improve process reliability. Recommend equipment upgrades and process enhancements to support production goals. New Program Launches Participate in APQP activities and support successful product launches. Develop process flow diagrams, PFMEAs, control plans, and manufacturing documentation. Coordinate equipment trials, process validation, and production readiness activities. Support PPAP submissions and customer launch requirements. Cross-Functional Collaboration Work closely with Production, Quality, Maintenance, Tooling, and Engineering teams to resolve manufacturing issues. Support engineering changes and continuous process optimization. Assist with capital equipment planning and implementation. Provide technical guidance and mentoring to junior engineers and production personnel. Quality & Safety Ensure compliance with IATF 16949, ISO standards, customer specifications, and company quality requirements. Promote a safe work environment while supporting environmental and safety initiatives. Participate in audits and implement corrective actions when necessary.

Qualifications: Required Bachelor's Degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.5+ years of Manufacturing Engineering experience within an automotive manufacturing environment. Experience supporting high-volume manufacturing operations. Strong knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, Kaizen, and continuous improvement methodologies. Experience with APQP, PPAP, PFMEA, Control Plans, and Root Cause Analysis. Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills. Ability to read engineering drawings, GD&T, and technical specifications. Strong communication and project management skills. Proficiency with Microsoft Office and engineering software.

Preferred Qualifications: Experience in aluminum die casting, lightweight metals, or Tier 1 automotive manufacturing. Knowledge of robotics, automation systems, PLC-controlled equipment, and industrial manufacturing technologies. Experience with AutoCAD, Solid Works, or similar CAD software.
