Role Overview: The AI Engineer is responsible for managing the firm's AI platforms, driving AI strategy, and collaborating with legal professionals to design, implement, and promote AI-enhanced workflows. The position combines hands-on solution development, change management, and strategic planning to support the firm’s goal of responsible, innovative AI adoption.
Key Responsibilities: Serve as the primary expert and system administrator for legal AI platforms, configuring, maintaining, and evaluating AI technologies for relevance and capability. Develop and prioritize high-impact AI use cases aligned with strategic goals, translating legal and operational needs into practical, scalable solutions. Design, develop, and document AI workflows, prompts, automated agents, templates, and reusable components, ensuring integration into existing legal processes. Collaborate with attorneys and stakeholders to refine AI-assisted workflows, scale successful implementations, and share best practices across departments. Deliver training sessions, workshops, and educational resources to promote understanding and responsible use of AI tools among legal staff. Lead change-management initiatives to foster a culture of innovation, curiosity, and disciplined experimentation while ensuring adherence to ethical standards and firm policies. Monitor AI platform performance, user engagement, and solution effectiveness; prepare reports for executive review and improvement recommendations. Manage relationships with AI technology vendors, coordinating product updates, resolving issues, and recommending enhancements. Ensure compliance with legal, ethical, regulatory, and confidentiality standards governing AI usage, including ongoing education on AI risks and limitations.
Core Qualifications & Requirements: Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree or legal J.D. preferred. Minimum of five years’ experience in legal technology, AI implementation, legal operations, or related fields within law firms or legal tech companies. Proven experience working with sophisticated legal environments, including Am Law 50/100 firms or equivalent organizations. Strong understanding of AI platforms, legal workflows, and enterprise technology systems (e.g., document management, case management, workflow automation).Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to translate technical concepts for legal audiences.

Qualifications: Experience in legal innovation, knowledge management, or legal process optimization. Familiarity with AI and NLP tools, platforms such as LLMs, GPT-based systems, or other generative AI solutions. Prior involvement in change management initiatives within professional service organizations. Knowledge of legal data security, confidentiality protocols, and regulatory considerations.
