Job Summary:
National Public Safety Group (NPSG) is seeking a highly experienced Records Management System (RMS) and Jail Management System (JMS) Software Consultant to join our growing team of public safety professionals. This role is ideal for individuals who have worked directly with public safety software platforms as a consultant, implementation specialist, or demonstration team member for a public safety technology vendor. The ideal candidate possesses a strong understanding of records management and jail management operations, public safety technology integrations, and software implementation best practices. Candidates must be comfortable facilitating workshops, leading requirements discussions, presenting to executive and operational audiences, and serving as a trusted advisor to public safety agencies. The RMS/JMS Software Consultant will support agencies through needs assessments, software selection, and implementation projects by evaluating operational workflows, identifying opportunities for improvement, and helping clients successfully adopt new technology solutions. About National Public Safety Group: National Public Safety Group is a concierge consulting firm solely focused on public safety software projects for CAD, FRMS, LERMS, JMS, OMS, and Mobile solutions. We manage these projects through the Needs Assessment, Selection, Procurement, and Project Management phases. This is achieved by providing a dedicated team of subject matter experts for each solution and phase of the project. As NPSG only provides consulting services for public safety software projects, we conduct intense research into the providers to help our agencies make the best decision about who to choose. National Public Safety Group currently has 331 customers in 14 states, and we are growing rapidly. All of our customers are public safety software agencies such as 911 Centers, EMS, Fire, Police, Sheriff’s Offices, State Patrols, and State Department of Corrections. Key Responsibilities:
- Serve as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in Records Management Systems (RMS) and/or Jail Management Systems (JMS) for public safety agencies.
- Conduct needs assessments and evaluate agency business processes, workflows, and technology environments; identify gaps and recommend best practices and process improvements.
- Participate in client meetings, workshops, requirements sessions, and stakeholder discussions with agency personnel, executive leadership, and software vendors.
- Support RMS/JMS software implementations, upgrades, testing, training, and go-live activities.
- Provide guidance on system integrations, CJIS-related workflows, NIBRS reporting, records management, jail operations, and other public safety business processes.
- Develop project documentation, needs assessment documentation, training materials, functional requirements, and client recommendations.
- Stay up to date on changing policies, data standards, and criminal justice reporting regulations—communicate updates clearly to clients and internal teams
- Provide subject matter expertise and input for RFP development and proposal responses.
- Collaborate with project managers and client teams to ensure successful project outcomes and client satisfaction.
- Manage assigned workstreams independently while maintaining a high level of professionalism and responsiveness.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree preferred or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
Minimum of 5 years of experience working with public safety software, including Records Management Systems (RMS), Jail Management Systems (JMS), or related law enforcement technologies.
Experience working for a public safety software vendor as an implementation consultant, trainer, demonstration specialist, or similar role is highly desirable.
Strong understanding of law enforcement and corrections operations, including records management, inmate management, CJIS-related processes, and criminal justice reporting requirements.
Exceptional verbal and written communication skills with the ability to confidently facilitate meetings and present to executive and operational audiences.
Proven ability to build relationships with clients, vendors, and stakeholders while serving as a trusted advisor.
Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced consulting environment.
Self-motivated and comfortable working independently in a remote environment.
Proficient with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
Ability to travel 50% or more based on project needs.
