26-27 School Nurse, LPN (PRN)

Qualifications: Valid Missouri LPN or RN license Current CPR & first aid certification

PRN BASIS ONLYPerformance Responsibilities: Promote an optimal level of wellness for students and staff. Uphold professional standards, the Missouri Nurse Practice Act, and other statutes and regulations applicable to the practice of school nursing. Collaborate with the Coordinator of School Health Services and Healthroom Paraprofessionals. Serve as a direct link between families, healthcare providers, and community agencies. Apply appropriate theory as a basis for decision-making in nursing practice. Provide crisis intervention (e.g. adolescent pregnancy, substance abuse, death of a family member, suicide, and child abuse or neglect issues, etc).Develop nursing care plans with specific goals and interventions unique to student needs. Implement nursing actions that promote, maintain, or restore health, prevent illness, and effect rehabilitation. Participate in student centered school team meetings, as appropriate. Provide relevant health-related instruction, counseling, and guidance to students, staff, parents and others. Assist with health screenings and subsequent follow-up. Act as substitute in absence of health room paraprofessional, when necessary. Provide health-related information to staff and students. Pursue relevant professional development opportunities. Other duties as assigned by the Building Principal and/or the Coordinator of Health Service.
