This position offers the opportunity to practise progressive livestock medicine across both ambulatory and in-hospital settings, with a varied caseload spanning herd health, reproduction, calf and heifer care, diagnostics, surgery and preventative medicine. About the Practice This established mixed-animal hospital provides comprehensive livestock veterinary services through a combination of on-farm care and dedicated large-animal hospital facilities. Veterinarians are supported by certified veterinary technicians and experienced assistants, helping to create efficient farm visits while providing additional support for hospitalized and surgical patients. Large-animal facilities and clinical resources include: Climate-controlled treatment and housing areas Safe livestock restraint systems and stocks Dedicated hospital stalls Breeding stalls Outdoor turnout areas Dedicated large-animal surgical facilities Gas anesthesia capabilities Overnight patient monitoring when required In-house laboratory diagnostics Milk-quality testing Diagnostic ultrasound Digital radiography Mobile digital radiography Organized ambulatory services Client delivery support These resources allow veterinarians to provide continuity of care from routine herd visits and reproductive work through diagnostics, surgery and more involved hospital cases. You’ll work directly with livestock producers to develop practical veterinary strategies that support individual animal health, herd performance and long-term client outcomes. Your caseload will include: Herd health and preventative medicine programs On-farm veterinary consultations Heifer wellness programs Calf health and disease management Reproductive medicine Pregnancy diagnosis Breeding and reproductive support Livestock surgical procedures Diagnostic ultrasound Lung ultrasound where appropriate Digital and mobile radiography Interpretation of in-house laboratory results Milk-quality testing and investigation Nutrition-related veterinary guidance Transition-cow support Emergency livestock medicine You’ll work alongside experienced technicians and veterinary assistants during both hospital and ambulatory cases, helping to make visits more efficient while maintaining a high standard of patient care. A compact and well-organized service area helps minimize time spent driving between farms, while a company-provided, fully equipped vehicle is available for ambulatory calls. The position includes participation in an equitable shared after-hours emergency rotation.
