This temp, ongoing position offers an opportunity to contribute to important laboratory processes while engaging with diverse patient populations in a supportive healthcare environment.
Responsibilities:
- Facilitate the collection, processing, and shipping of urine specimens
- Collect urine specimens from patients, including observed and supervised collections
- Properly identify patients before specimen collection following departmental policies
- Label, document, and prepare specimens for shipment ensuring accuracy
- Provide compassionate customer service when interacting with patients, physicians, and clinic staff
- Communicate effectively with a diverse patient base and respond appropriately to their needs
- Follow Universal Precautions and OSHA standards when handling specimens
- Strictly adhere to HIPAA guidelines to maintain patient confidentiality
- Notify supervisors of low-volume shifts, issues, or procedural deviations
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment at all times
- Assist with office and supply management as needed
Required Skills:
- Proven experience providing excellent customer service
- Highly reliable with a strong work ethic
- Strong computer skills, including managing multiple programs, email, and reports
- Fast and accurate data entry abilities
- Clear and confident communication skills
- Additional Skills & Requirements
- Ability to stand for long periods and lift up to 50 lbs
- Physical activities include walking, sitting, bending, lifting, stooping, kneeling, reaching, twisting, and squatting
- Experience in specimen collection, preferably in a healthcare or laboratory setting, is a plus
- A reliable schedule aligned with the current shift hours (including early mornings and afternoons)
