Theprimaryresponsibilityandauthorityfortheexecutionofallvesselassignmentsincluding, butnotlimitedto, planningthemostefficientandsafeoperationofthevesselanditscrew, implementingtheoperatingplaninacost-effectivemanner, andevaluatingandreportingtheresults. Itistheresponsibilityofallmasters toensurecompliancewithpoliciesandproceduresandtomeetallrequirementsinthe Safety Management System Manual(SMS)andtoproperlydocument. Masterswillhavethespecificobligationtoensurethatallpersonnelassignedtovesselsareprovidedwithinformation, instructions, anddirectionsnecessaryformeetingtheprogramobjectivesofsafety, environmentalprotection, andqualityservicethroughknowledgeableandcompetentexecutionofassignedtasks. Conductrequireddrills, training, safetymeetings, andmaintainsrecordsofsuch, percompanypolicy. Conductandensurescompliancewithvesselmaintenanceandinspectionrequirementsasprescribedbythecompany. Inspectvesseltoensureconformancewithsafetystandardsandmaritimeregulations. Workcloselywithcustomers, pilots, andappropriategovernmentagenciestoensuretheproperperformanceofthejob. Ensurepromptandaccuratereportingofallequipmentfailures, illnesses, incidents, accidentsanddamages. Maintaincurrentknowledgeofallmaritimelaws. Directandsupervisecrewmembersinsafeandproductiveoperationofthevessel, itsmachineryandequipment. Holdthecrewaccountablefortheiradherencetomaritimelaw, companypoliciesandprocedures, andtheirindividualperformance/productivity. Evaluateallcrewmembersinaccordancewith Companypolicyandtakeactionasnecessary. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Thoroughknowledgeofvesselhandlingandnavigationalskillscommensuratewithoperatingassignments. Workingknowledgeofpropulsion, auxiliaryanddeckmachinery. Mustpossessstrongwrittenandoralcommunicativeskills. Mustbeabletoeconomicallysuperviseallaspectsoftheoperationofthevessel, itscargoandcrew. Mustbeabletoworkindependentlyandwithoutdirectsupervision.
