Stepdown Registered Nurse

BJC HealthCare seeks a Stepdown Registered Nurse to provide high-acuity, patient-centered care for adults transitioning from intensive care to medical-surgical levels. In this fast-paced unit, you’ll monitor complex conditions, manage telemetry, administer medications and therapies, and coordinate multidisciplinary care plans. You’ll educate patients and families on treatment and discharge needs, document care in the EHR, and contribute to quality and safety initiatives. Provide comprehensive nursing care for stepdown patients transitioning from critical care to medical-surgical units Monitor vital signs, telemetry, and complex clinical conditions, escalating concerns promptly Administer medications, treatments, and therapies per provider orders and clinical protocols Coordinate multidisciplinary care plans with physicians, therapists, case managers, and support staff Educate patients and families on diagnoses, medications, and discharge plans to support safe transitions Document assessments, interventions, and outcomes accurately in the electronic health record (EHR) Precept and mentor newer nurses and support staff to promote clinical excellence and teamwork Participate in quality improvement, patient safety initiatives, and evidence-based practice projects Stepdown/telemetry patient care Acute care nursing Vital signs and cardiac monitoring Medication administration Care coordination and discharge planning Patient and family education Electronic Health Record (EHR) documentation Critical thinking and clinical judgment Infection prevention and safety protocols Interdisciplinary communication Medical Insurance Dental Insurance Vision Insurance Life Insurance 401k Active RN license in state of practice Basic Life Support (BLS) certification Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) preferred or obtained after hire Telemetry/critical care course or experience preferred
