These roles are heavily focused on relay testing, commissioning, and substation upgrades supporting major transmission and distribution initiatives for a leading utility client. Positions are remote and direct hire, but candidates must be willing to travel to and work away from home across multiple project sites in Ohio and Pennsylvania. On offer will be: Competitive hourly rates plus paid overtime 1.5XDaily per diem payable 7-days per week Monthly vehicle allowance Flight home paid for once per month Full medical benefits package
Key Responsibilities:
• Experienced in performing testing and commissioning activities on reliability upgrades inenergized substations (Brownfield or Greenfield).• Capable of developing Isolation plans & Procedures for the removal of existing equipment andinstallation of new equipment.• Understanding of electrical circuits, power systems, and related technologies.• Participating in project planning, scheduling, and execution, ensuring deadlines aremet.• Capable of developing work plans for substation projects. This includes working with thecommissioning engineer / start-up coordinator, substation construction staff, electricians, etc. tocompile all the work activities into an overall work plan.• Must be able to proficiently read drawings and understand various protection schemes.• Assist with testing of substation Scada systems, substation annunciators, and other substationdata network devices.• Provide field support to the electrical contractors in the wiring of the substation protectiverelaying and control systems, verifying the wiring is fully complete by the design/ engineered redlines (As-Builts), and assist in the pre-energization checkout and testing to ensure the controlschemes work as intended.• Ensuring the safety of themselves and their team, following safety procedures and Protocols.· Proficient in applying Human Performance tools for projects to create a safe workspace.• Effectively communicating with team members, clients, and supervisors.• Providing training and mentorship to other technicians, helping them develop their skills andknowledge.• Knowledge of various substation equipment, including protective relays, circuit breakers, transformers, and more.• Thorough knowledge of substation safety procedures and practices.• Strong verbal and written communication skills for effective communication with team members andclients.• Ability to lead and motivate a team, delegating tasks effectively and providingguidance.• Ability to analyze problems, identify root causes, and develop solutions.
Qualifications:
✓ Minimum associate’s degree in electrical technology with 5+ years with Substation fieldexperience or 7+ years with Substation field experience.✓ Strong understanding of electrical theory and mathematical concepts✓ Ability to read and interpret schematics and blueprints✓ Experience with testing and commissioning of substation equipment and systems✓ Ability to work safely with high voltage equipment and systems✓ Strong communication and problem-solving skills✓ OSHA 30
