Environmental Specialist

Overview In this Environmental Specialist role, you help advance Chemours’ compliance and performance programs at the Newark Discovery Hub. You will develop, implement, and continually improve EHS systems across the site, collaborating with R&D, operations, and leadership. You’ll drive regulatory reporting, audits, and incident investigations, delivering actionable insights to support safety and sustainability. This position offers visibility, impact on compliance, and a chance to shape environmental programs at a state-of-the-art facility. Compensation / Benefits Competitive Compensation Comprehensive Benefits Packages 401(k) Match Employee Stock Purchase Program Tuition Reimbursement Commuter Benefits Responsibilities Maintain and support environmental compliance systems, processes, and continuous improvement initiatives Prepare, review, and submit data for regulatory and corporate reports (e.g. EPCRA, Air Emissions Inventory, Wastewater, Hazardous waste, sustainability)Conduct environmental applicability determinations and compliance assessments for routine operations, projects, and process changes Lead and support environmental audits, inspections, and incident investigations with timely corrective actions Develop, update, and maintain environmental procedures, documentation, and training materials Monitor, analyze, and communicate environmental performance metrics to support compliance and decision-making Build and maintain relationships with regulatory agencies and stay current on regulatory changes and industry trends Support hazardous waste management activities, including storage area compliance, labeling, containment, and documentation Key requirements Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or related technical/scientific discipline 3–5 years of environmental experience in R&D, laboratory, or manufacturing Working knowledge of air compliance programs and environmental reporting requirements Familiarity with environmental management systems (RCMS, RC14001, ISO 14001)Knowledge of hazardous waste characterization and storage area requirements Cross-functional collaboration Strong communication with regulatory bodies and internal teams Attention to detail and analytical thinking Air compliance programs and environmental reporting Environmental management systems (RCMS, RC14001, ISO 14001)Hazardous waste management and regulatory documentation
