What you'll do:
Safely execute and oversee high-density fiber splicing (e.g., 864, 1728, 3456, and 6912+ counts) in active Data Center and Central Office environments. Perform mass fusion (ribbon) splicing, ring cuts, and mid-sheath entries, and install pre-terminated MPO and LC panels. Test, activate, and troubleshoot complex circuits utilizing OTDR, iOLM, and Optical Loss Test Sets (OLTS) to verify performance against strict data loss budgets. Manage, train, and guide onsite crew members to ensure all splicing, cable routing, and rack-and-stack tasks meet rigorous safety, security, and customer-specific data center standards. Meticulously document all work performed, including generating daily production reports, updating splice matrices, logging test results, and managing material inventory. Coordinate with project managers and client representatives to ensure uninterrupted workflow in mission-critical facilities. Pay range is $40-$50 per hour depending on experience **** The project site is in Fargo, ND. If you are not within a commutable distance, you may be considered if you are open to 75%-99% travel with monthly hotel accommodations and per diem.
What you'll need:
- To be 18 years of age or older
- Authorization to work in the United States for this company
- High School Diploma, GED equivalent, or relevant work experience
- Valid State driver's license (cannot be Provisional), including an acceptable driving record
- Must be able to pass a DOT physical exam, resulting in a valid medical card
- At least 4 years of experience splicing, placing, and testing fiber strands
At least 4 years of experience splicing, placing, and testing fiber optics, with a proven track record in inside plant (ISP) or data center environments.
Extensive hands-on experience with high-strand-count cables, ribbon splicers, and data center fiber distribution hardware.
Strong knowledge of data center infrastructure, precision cable management, and clean workspace maintenance.
High School Diploma, GED equivalent, or relevant work experience.
To be 18 years of age or older and authorized to work in the United States.
Valid State driver's license (cannot be Provisional), with an acceptable driving record and ability to pass a DOT physical exam.
Physical abilities & exposures
Routinely: Work indoors in climate-controlled but confined environments (such as under raised floors or above server racks), use fine hand motion for delicate fiber handling, stand, walk, climb ladders, stoop, kneel, and lift up to 55 pounds.
Occasionally: Operate company vehicles, use keyboards, and navigate high-security facility checkpoints.
