Job Responsibilities: The Southcentral Foundation (SCF) Community Health Aide is responsible for providing acute, chronic, emergency, and preventive medical health care to Village residents under the direction of the medical doctors in Anchorage and according to the CHA/P Manual. The CHA Trainee (CHA-T) level is a training classification for those who do not yet qualify as CHA I. The CHA I, II, III, IV and Practitioner are expected to operate within the guidelines of the CHA/P Manual (eCHAM) and their level of training and the scope of practice consistent with their level of training. CHA II, III, IV and Practitioner are also expected to act within the limits of their Medical Standing Orders (MSO) when applicable. This position has five (5) levels designed to provide progressively more responsible and independent work experience and training. Progression between job levels is based on qualifications/certifications and the demonstrated ability to successfully handle more progressively responsible assignments and certifications.
Qualifications: SCF programs are established to serve a primary population comprised of Alaska Native people who are affiliated with Cook Inlet Region, Inc. (CIRI) and Alaska Native and American Indian people within SCF's geographical service area. Employees should have a thorough understanding of the cultures and the needs of this population. Such knowledge is critical to ensure the achievement of SCF's vision of a Native Community that enjoys physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual wellness, and mission of working together with the Native Community to achieve wellness through health and related services: Additional Qualifications for CHA IV:Successful completion of the Session IV [four (4)] of CHA training program and passing required testing with a grade of 80 percent or better. Meet all expectations outlined in the Community Health Aide Program Certification Board Standards and Procedures. Additional Qualifications for CHA Practitioner: Current certification as a Practitioner by the CHA Program Certification Board (CHAPCB).Meet all expectations outlined in the Community Health Aide Program Certification Board Standards and Procedures.

New employees must complete all required health screenings and immunizations before their first day of work. Current employees must complete any additional screenings or immunizations that become necessary due to workplace conditions, public health concerns, or newly available vaccines that help protect coworkers and the community.
