The ideal candidate will be passionate about teaching science, committed to academic excellence, and supportive of the mission and values of Catholic education. This position involves teaching high school science courses while fostering a classroom environment rooted in faith, respect, and intellectual curiosity.
Key Responsibilities:
Teach high school science courses (e.g. AP Biology, IB Biology and Horticulture) according to curriculum standards.
Develop engaging lesson plans that encourage critical thinking, scientific inquiry, and hands-on learning.
Integrate Catholic values and ethical perspectives where appropriate within the curriculum.
Assess student progress through assignments, labs, projects, and exams.
Maintain a positive, structured, and supportive classroom environment.
Collaborate with fellow faculty and staff to support interdisciplinary learning and school initiatives.
Communicate regularly with parents and guardians regarding student progress.
Participate in school activities, faculty meetings, professional development, and the spiritual life of the school community.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Science Education
- Valid state teaching certification DA (Biology) or DX, DQ, DI, DP preferred.
- Strong knowledge of high school science curriculum and laboratory safety practices.
- Excellent communication, organization, and classroom management skills.
- Commitment to the mission and values of Catholic education.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience teaching at the AP or IB high school level.
Ability to teach multiple science disciplines.
Familiarity with inquiry-based and project-based learning methods.
Practicing Catholic preferred, but not required; all applicants must support the Catholic mission of the school.
