Permitting Specialist I (Friendswood, TX)

Responsibilities: Support and implement the District's regulatory program through the administration of the permitting process. Effectively review, verify, and process submitted applications and properly archive information received and sent to the permittee in the District's permit tracking system and repository. Process and enter the submitted annual report information and properly archive it. Communicate effectively and professionally with permittees, applicants, and the public. Manage returned mail. Duties as otherwise assigned. This position reports to the Deputy General Manager.

Education/Experience: An Associate's degree is required; a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration is preferred; or two to four years of related experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience Language Ability: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business text, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively and professionally present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public. (Bilingual English/Spanish is preferred.)Math Ability: Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, and percentages. Reasoning Ability: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Ability to identify improvements to workflow. Computer Skills: To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of MS Word, MS Excel, MS Explorer, and MS Access. Vacation: All regular full-time employees are authorized to take paid vacation after completing three months of employment. Vacation time will accrue according to the following schedule.0-5 years: 8 hours per month (96 hours/year)5-15 years: 10 hours per month (120 hours/year)15+ years: 13.33 hours per month (160 hours/year) Sick Leave - All regular full-time employees accrue sick leave at the rate of 4 hours per pay period. Office holiday closures follow the State of Texas holiday schedule.
