Cortez - Environmental Engineer I-II, Water

Overview In this role you help drive closure and reclamation at the Cortez operation, ensuring regulatory and company standards are met. You will coordinate with stakeholders, manage permits and reclamation projects, and monitor environmental data to support responsible mining practices. Your work supports sustainable legacy for host communities while advancing the site’s closure plans. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver compliant, data-driven solutions with safety at the forefront. Compensation / Benefitsmedical, dental, and vision plan with company-sponsored clinics 401k retirement plan with employer matchpaid time offcompany stock purchase programcomprehensive benefits package Responsibilities Manage site reclamation permits and regulatory reporting; update Reclamation Cost Estimate models as needed Implement closure and reclamation projects in compliance with regulatory requirements and company standards Ensure compliance with the site Plan of Operations focusing on land management obligations Collect and document as-built information to track reclamation liabilities and support financial reporting Analyze environmental monitoring data (water quality, geochemistry, vegetation, material characterization) for compliance and closure programs Build relationships with stakeholders, including Federal and State authorities, to communicate monitoring results and strategies Contribute to development and implementation of site closure plans Adhere to state and federal health and safety regulations and company policies Key requirements Bachelor’s degree in environmental engineering, mine engineering, geology, hydrology, ecology (or similar)Ability to prepare technical communications for varied audiences Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously Ability to operate independently and in small multi-disciplinary teams Excellent computer skills (MS Office and data management programs)Excellent safety record and safety leadership 1–3 years of experience in environmental compliance or reclamation/closure (preferred)Strong GIS skills (preferred)Proficient in analyzing monitoring data with emphasis on water quality and geochemistry (preferred)Experience managing regulatory compliance programs in Nevada (preferred)clear communicator with diverse stakeholdersstrong project managementteam-oriented and collaborativeGISdata management and analysiswater quality and geochemistry analysis
