Registered Nurse – Intermediate Care Unit (IMC)

UT Health East Texas is seeking a compassionate Registered Nurse to join our Intermediate Care (IMC) team in Tyler, TX. In this role, you will deliver evidence-based care to clinically complex patients, performing assessments, administering medications, monitoring telemetry, and responding to changes in condition. You’ll collaborate closely with physicians and an interdisciplinary team, educate patients and families, and support quality, safety, and infection-prevention standards. Provide direct patient care in IMC, including assessments, medication administration, and monitoring Collaborate with physicians and interdisciplinary team to develop and implement care plans Monitor patient status, respond to changes, and initiate appropriate interventions Educate patients and families on conditions, treatments, and discharge instructions Maintain accurate, timely clinical documentation and follow hospital protocols Support quality, safety, and infection control standards in all care activities Precept and mentor new staff, contributing to a culture of continuous learning Participate in shift handoffs, huddles, and care conferences to ensure continuity Intermediate care/step-down nursing Patient assessment and triage IV therapy and medication administration Cardiac and telemetry monitoring Electronic health record (EHR) documentation Care planning and care coordination Patient and family education Infection prevention and control Time management and prioritization Interdisciplinary team collaboration Medical Insurance Dental Insurance Vision Insurance Life Insurance 401k Active RN license in Texas or compact state Basic Life Support (BLS) certification Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) preferred or obtained after hire Telemetry/IMC experience or certification preferred
