Structural Fitter / Welder
Wage: $30-36.72 per hour based upon Experience. This is a fully on-site position. The employee will complete a minimum 90-day on-site training period at Epsilon Industries' Tuscaloosa, Alabama facility and will receive a per diem of $500 per week during the training period. Upon completion of training, the position will transfer to and remain fully on-site at Epsilon Industries' Oxford, Alabama facility. The Structural Fitter / Welder is responsible for the layout, fit-up, fabrication, and welding of structural steel components in accordance with drawings, specifications, and quality standards. This role plays a key part in assembling frames, modules, and support structures that meet production schedules and customer requirements.
Job Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Structural Fitting & LayoutRead and interpret blueprints, shop drawings, and Bills of Material (BOMs)
  • Lay out structural components including beams, columns, baseplates, and supports
  • Measure, cut, and prepare materials to required dimensions
  • Perform fit-up of structural assemblies ensuring proper alignment and tolerances
  • WeldingPerform welding using processes such as MIG, Flux-Cored (FCAW), or Stick
  • Produce welds that meet company quality standards and applicable codes
  • Visually inspect welds and correct deficiencies as needed
  • Maintain consistency and accuracy in all welds
  • Fabrication & Assembly
  • Assemble structural frames, skids, and modular components
  • Work with jigs, fixtures, and layout tools to ensure repeatability and accuracy
  • Ensure proper placement and fit of structural members prior to final welding
  • Assist in module assembly and integration with other trades
  • Quality & Accuracy
  • Verify dimensions, squareness, and alignment before and after welding
  • Follow all fabrication drawings and specifications closely
  • Minimize rework through attention to detail and proper execution
  • Work with QA/QC to resolve any quality issues
  • SafetyFollow all company safety policies and procedures
  • Properly use PPE and maintain safe work practices
  • Safely operate tools and equipment including grinders, torches, and welding machines
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area
  • Team Collaboration
  • Work closely with supervisors, leads, and other departments (piping, assembly, etc.)Communicate material needs, drawing discrepancies, or production issues
  • Support team productivity and help meet production goals
Job Qualifications:
  • 37+ years of experience in structural fitting and/or welding
  • Ability to read and interpret structural drawings
  • Proficiency in welding processes (MIG, FCAW, or Stick)
  • Ability to read a tape measure and perform basic layout work
  • Experience in fabrication or industrial environments
  • PreferredWelding certifications (AWS D1.1 or equivalent)
  • Experience with modular construction or skid fabrication
  • Familiarity with rigging and material handling
  • Experience using layout tools (squares, levels, measuring devices)
