Investment Research – Equity Long/Short New York | Alternative Investment Management We are working on a confidential search for an Investment Research professional focused on Equity Long/Short strategies to join a sophisticated investment platform in New York. This is an investment-focused role combining fundamental and quantitative analysis of equity long/short strategies, portfolio analytics and investment decision-making. The successful candidate will develop a deep understanding of how different L/S approaches generate alpha, evaluate the durability of investment processes and identify the underlying drivers of performance and risk. The role offers significant exposure to leading Equity Long/Short investment strategies and senior investors, alongside responsibility for developing proprietary frameworks used to assess alpha generation, portfolio characteristics and investment opportunities. Key areas of focus: Conduct deep research across Equity Long/Short investment strategies Analyse alpha generation, factor exposures, portfolio construction, risk and performance Develop views on the strengths, weaknesses and durability of different investment approaches Perform quantitative research, backtesting and statistical analysis Build and enhance proprietary investment frameworks and analytics Translate complex quantitative and qualitative research into clear investment recommendations Work closely with senior investment professionals on portfolio and strategy decisions Engage with sophisticated investors to understand positioning, market views and evolving investment opportunities Ideal background:6–12 years of experience within investment management, equity research or alternative investments Strong understanding of Equity Long/Short investing Experience analysing portfolios, investment strategies, alpha and risk Strong analytical and quantitative capabilities; Python, Bloomberg and advanced Excel advantageous Excellent written and verbal communication skills Strong academic background Ability to develop an investment view and communicate it with conviction This is particularly suited to someone who wants to become a deep specialist in Equity Long/Short investing, combining rigorous research and analytics with increasing ownership of investment decisions.
