Our client, a long-established, privately held U.S. manufacturer, is seeking a Key Account Manager as part of a planned succession. You'll inherit several major, long-standing OEM relationships and build upon a significant base of existing business serving scientific, medical, analytical, laboratory, and industrial equipment markets. You'll take ownership of customer relationships, revenue, profitability, and account growth. Working with customer engineering, procurement, operations, and executive teams, you'll identify new applications, expand existing business, and develop new OEM customers that can become the company's next strategic accounts. The opportunity offers an established customer portfolio, products embedded in sophisticated OEM applications, a strong technical organization, and direct access to senior leadership. Why You Should Apply$100,000–$125,000 base salary, depending on experience. Monthly commission tied to account performance, plus an annual Pay-for-Performance Bonus Program. Hybrid schedule, typically 2–3 days per week onsite when not traveling. Established portfolio of major OEM accounts, with opportunities to expand existing business and win new customers. What You'll Do:
Own and grow strategic OEM accounts, with responsibility for revenue, profitability, retention, and long-term growth.
Develop account plans and uncover opportunities across additional products, applications, platforms, and programs.
Build relationships throughout customer organizations, from engineering and procurement to executive leadership.
Lead pricing, contract, and complex supply-agreement negotiations.
Conduct customer business reviews and maintain accurate account forecasts and opportunity pipelines.
Collaborate with internal engineering, operations, customer service, and leadership teams to address customer needs and support growth.
Develop new OEM relationships and bring customer and market insights into the organization.
Use CRM tools to manage customer information, account activity, and opportunities.
What You'll BringB2B sales or account management experience with success growing major customer relationships. Seven or more years is preferred; candidates with 3–5 years of highly relevant OEM sales experience will also be considered.
Experience selling technical or engineered products to OEM customers, preferably in scientific, medical, analytical, laboratory, or industrial equipment markets.
Success expanding existing accounts and developing new business.
Experience negotiating pricing, contracts, and supply agreements.
Technical aptitude and the ability to communicate effectively with engineering, procurement, and business teams.
Commercial and financial acumen, including an understanding of pricing, margins, and forecasts.
Strong communication skills and confidence building relationships across customer organizations.
CRM experience; HubSpot is a plus.
A bachelor's degree in business, engineering, or a related field is preferred. An engineering background is a plus.
Location and TravelThis Greater Chicagoland hybrid role typically requires 2–3 days per week onsite when not traveling. Travel is approximately 20%, including occasional international travel.
