This is a hands-on, community-facing position for someone who enjoys helping people, takes initiative, stays organized, and is comfortable with a workday that can change as needs arise. The Resource Specialist serves as a primary point of connection for individuals and families accessing the Family Center while also helping keep our programs, resources, and day-to-day operations running smoothly. One part of the day may involve helping a neighbor connect with a community resource or complete an application. Another may involve coordinating food shelf needs, working with volunteers, completing outreach, organizing program materials, answering the phone, updating information, or helping with something that needs attention around the Center. We are looking for someone who enjoys both people and practical problem-solving and is willing to jump in as part of a small team.
What You'll Do:
Help individuals and families navigate community resources, benefits, forms, applications, referrals, and other practical needs. Coordinate day-to-day activities of the Pine River Area Food Shelf, including inventory, ordering, deliveries, donations, records, and volunteer support. Complete Child & Teen Checkups (C&TC) outreach, follow-up, documentation, and related activities. Support Family Center resources including the diaper bank, legal kiosk, lending library, and visiting community partners. Welcome visitors, answer phones, respond to questions, and connect people with the appropriate service or staff member. Support and coordinate volunteers. Maintain organized program materials, supplies, paper and electronic files, and shared spaces. Assist with mail, deposit preparation, calendars, correspondence, website and social media updates, and other administrative needs. Provide administrative support to the Executive Director and team. Participate in community outreach, events, fundraising, and other Family Center activities.
What We're Looking For:
The right person for this position will be approachable, dependable, organized, flexible, and comfortable taking ownership of their work. They should be able to work independently while staying connected and communicating with the team, manage competing priorities and interruptions, exercise good judgment, maintain confidentiality and professional boundaries, and follow responsibilities through to completion. A high school diploma or equivalent is required. Additional education or training in human services, office administration, community services, or a related area is preferred. Experience in community services, customer service, human services, office administration, food access, nonprofit work, or a related setting is also preferred. Benefits:
The regular schedule is Monday through Thursday, 8:00 a.m.–4:00 p.m., and Friday, 8:00 a.m.–3:00 p.m. On the second Tuesday of each month, the schedule is 8:00 a.m.–6:00 p.m. to support extended Food Shelf hours. Occasional evening and weekend hours are required for Family Center events, outreach, fundraising, or other organizational activities. Starting wage is $25.00 per hour.
