The Environmental Specialist supports sustainability initiatives, environmental permitting, waste management programs, pollution prevention efforts, and environmental reporting activities. This role collaborates with operations, maintenance, engineering, and leadership teams to promote environmental stewardship, regulatory compliance, and continuous improvement, all in support of the company’sobjectives.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES Lead, support, and execute environmental compliance initiatives to ensure compliance with applicable environmental regulations and company standards.
Monitor compliance with air, water, stormwater, waste, hazardous materials, and other environmental permits and requirements.
Conduct environmental inspections, audits, and assessments toidentifyrisks and drive corrective actions.
Maintainenvironmental records, permits, reports, and documentationin accordance withregulatory requirements.
Prepare andsubmitenvironmental reports to regulatory agencies asrequired.
Coordinate hazardous and non-hazardous waste management activities, including storage, labeling, transportation, and disposal.
Investigate environmental incidents, spills, or non-compliance issues andassistwith corrective and preventive actions.
Support pollution prevention, sustainability, recycling, and waste reduction initiatives.
Provide environmental compliance training and guidance to employees and supervisors.
Assistwith environmental permitting activities and regulatory agency inspections.
Evaluate environmental performance metrics and recommend process improvements.
Partner with cross-functional teams to support environmentalobjectives, capital projects, and operational changes.
Monitor changes in environmental regulations and communicate their impactstothe organization.
Activelyparticipatein the improvementandsupport ofthe safety program in the Manufacturing Operations.
Execute company policies that align with strong core values and organizationalobjectives.
Perform other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS REQUIRED Bachelor's degree in environmental science, Environmental Engineering, Occupational Health and Safety, orrelatedfield.
Three to five years of environmental compliance experience in a manufacturing, industrial, or related environment.
Working knowledge of federal, state,andlocal environmentalandDNRregulations.
Experience with environmental permitting, inspections, audits, and reporting requirements.
Knowledge of hazardous waste management and environmental recordkeeping practices.
Experience with sustainability reporting and environmental data management systems.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Proficiencyin computer skills, including Microsoft Office applications.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to manage multiple priorities and projects in a fast-paced environment.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively across departments.
Solid core values and commitment to environmental stewardship.
PREFERRED Advanced knowledge of wastewater, air emissions, and stormwater compliance programs.
Diverse experience conducting environmental training and regulatory audits.
Experience in manufacturing, concrete products, construction materials, or industrial operations.
OSHA 30 certification.
Safety program experience in a manufacturing setting.
Advanced environmental or safety certifications.
