Welder

Duties and responsibilities: Reads and interprets blueprints and machine drawings to determine specific welding requirements. Plan and perform the welding process that best fits the job you are assigned, including fabrications, weldments, machine parts, and tools of ferrous and non-ferrous materials. Perform necessary laying out, cutting, bending, forming and assembly operations using fixtures and positioners in preparation for welding. Select proper welding rod and tips; select and set current and amperage, and gas pressure according to type of material and individual job requirements. Manipulate electrode or torch to lay a smooth, even bead, obtain proper penetration and fusion, avoid burning or distortion, especially the sections or dissimilar metals. Visually inspect work and clean welds on completion of operation. Operate angle grinders to prepare the parts that must be welded. Test and inspect welded surfaces and structure. Operate overhead crane and/or forklift as needed. Maintain work area and equipment in a clean and orderly condition. Performs any related duties as required or assigned.
