Oceanside, CA (with float coverage to Vista, CA and Encinitas, CA) | Schedule: Full-time, on-site, contract with potential for permanent placement; shifts fall between 6AM and 6PM Monday-Friday (8-hour shifts, exact start/end depending on location), with occasional weekend rotation (as little as one weekend per month) | Compensation: $20.25 per hour
Overview:
A healthcare services provider is seeking a Phlebotomist to support specimen collection and lab workflow across multiple patient service center locations. This is a contract role lasting approximately 3 months with the potential to convert to a permanent position, ideal for a detail-oriented professional comfortable working across sites and handling a variety of collection duties.
What you'll do:
Perform blood draws, label specimens, and operate centrifuging equipment Record maintenance data and perform decontamination procedures Update patient information in system records Collect and store specimens according to established procedures Clearly and courteously explain the venipuncture process and other specimen collection methods (e.g., urine or fecal) to patients Demonstrate technique using straight needles and/or butterfly needles Fully understand and follow physicians' orders Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test order Check all test requisitions or computer labels against scripts to ensure 100% accuracy Package specimens for transport and store samples at required temperatures Place samples in appropriate collection containers/tubes and label accurately Follow protocol-specific procedures to maintain specimen integrity during transport Understand and comply with OSHA and DEP regulations Attend annual department trainings Answer telephone calls and read laboratory results to satisfy inquiries Float to other patient service center locations as needed
Required qualifications:
Valid Phlebotomy certification for the state of employment (as required in some states)Minimum of 6 months' work experience performing venipunctures in a fast-paced lab or hospital setting Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite High School Diploma or GED1-4 years of experience Clean driving record Reliable transportation Compensation and benefits$20.25 per hour Benefits are available Mileage expenses paid for travel between locations Why this role This position offers a defined contract term with the potential to become a permanent role, along with mileage reimbursement for travel between locations and available benefits.
