The company builds engineered-to-order PDUs, RPPs, and STS, running fabrication, electrical assembly, and final test in-house. They are vertically integrated, growing rapidly, and opening a newly acquired second facility over the next year which will more than double production capacity. In this role you'll be the quality leader for the organization, covering the full manufacturing lifecycle from supplier and incoming material through production, electrical test, final inspection, and field performance. The company holds ISO 9001 certification, but the daily shop floor processes underneath it are not well developed. You'll own the responsibility of building the organization's QMS, quality culture, and quality support team. You'll report to the COO directly and will inherit a Quality Technician, with the team expected to reach five in the near term and keep growing into the future. This hire is driven by strong customer demand, continued business growth, and the new facility coming online. You'll own quality across both sites and be the voice of quality with executive leadership.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Quality Management System Build and implement the QMS across both manufacturing sites Establish the procedures behind document control, CAPA, nonconforming material, internal audits, calibration, and traceability Lead preparation for customer, certification, and third-party audits Set the standards and audit cadence both plants operate at Manufacturing and product quality Establish inspection plans, testing requirements, and acceptance criteria for each product line Drive process controls that prevent defects instead of catching them at final inspection Partner with Engineering on product risk, reliability, and engineering change processes Build the supplier quality program with Supply Chain Performance and measurement Define the quality KPI framework and drive performance against it Own Cost of Poor Quality as a measured and reported number Lead Root Cause Analysis on internal and customer issues Report quality performance, trends, and risks to executive leadership Team and multi-site leadership Lead and develop the Quality Technician Hire and structure the team as it grows to five and past it Establish consistent quality practices across both sites Stand up the quality function at the new facility through buildout and ramp next yearGOALSAssess the current QMS and identify the major gaps and risks Stand up a quality KPI dashboard and an executive reporting process Establish clear quality ownership across Engineering, Operations, Supply Chain, and Quality Build effective root cause and corrective action processes and cut recurring defects Strengthen incoming, in-process, and final inspection controls Identify the largest sources of cost of poor quality in the business Build the multi-year quality roadmap and the team to deliver itREQUIRED QUALIFICATIONSQuality leadership experience within an engineered electrical product: critical power, energy products, transformers, switchgear, industrial controls, or similar Experience building a QMS in an environment where mature process didn't exist Startup, scale-up, or greenfield manufacturing background"Job shop", engineered-to-order, or low-volume/high-mix manufacturing experience Track record of hiring and leading a quality team Working knowledge of ISO 9001 and internal audit processesPREFERRED:Experience in critical power or mission-critical infrastructure manufacturing Experience with sheet metal, wiring/cabling, electrical testing Lean/TPS certificationASQ certification
Working conditions:
Office and manufacturing environment across two nearby facilities, with a regular presence on the production floor, travel between regional sister sites, and occasional travel to customers, suppliers, or industry events. Compensation Base salary is typically $140,000-$160,000 depending on candidate's skills, experience, and qualifications. Company offers comprehensive benefits and retirement savings programs.
