Quality Lead The Quality Lead is responsible for monitoring, inspecting, and verifying vessel operations, maintenance activities, construction projects, equipment installations, and repair work to ensure compliance with company standards, client specifications, regulatory requirements, and applicable industry codes. This position supports project vessel operations by conducting inspections, documenting quality findings, identifying non conformances, and ensuring corrective actions are implemented to maintain the integrity, safety, and reliability of marine and offshore assets. Responsibilities include performing inspections of vessel maintenance, repair, modification, construction, and operational activities to ensure compliance with approved procedures and specifications. The Quality Lead must verify that work performed by vessel crews, contractors, shipyards, and subcontractors meets quality requirements and project standards. They will conduct inspections of mechanical, structural, piping, electrical, hydraulic, and marine systems as required. The Quality Lead will review work packages, inspection test plans, drawings, specifications, procedures, and quality documentation. They will monitor fabrication, installation, testing, commissioning, and maintenance activities to verify compliance with project requirements. The Quality Lead will document inspection results, deficiencies, observations, and non-conformance reports. They will coordinate corrective actions and follow-up inspections to ensure identified deficiencies are resolved. The Quality Lead will participate in vessel audits, client inspections, regulatory inspections, and project readiness reviews. They will verify material certifications, equipment documentation, calibration records, and quality control records. The Quality Lead will witness testing activities including pressure testing, load testing, operational testing, and commissioning activities as required. They will ensure quality records, inspection reports, turnover documentation, and project files are maintained accurately and completely. The Quality Lead will assist in root cause investigations involving quality issues, equipment failures, or operational deficiencies. They will support continuous improvement initiatives by identifying opportunities to improve quality processes and procedures. The Quality Lead will coordinate with project management, engineering, vessel management, operations personnel, and clients regarding quality-related matters. They will promote compliance with company QHSE policies and support a culture of safety and quality throughout vessel operations. The Quality Lead will perform other related tasks as required. Education/Skills: High school diploma or equivalent required. Technical degree, trade certification, or associate degree in a marine, mechanical, electrical, welding, or related discipline preferred. Quality inspection certifications or industry-specific certifications are preferred. Minimum 5 years of experience in marine, offshore, shipyard, vessel operations, construction, maintenance, or quality inspection environments. Experience inspecting vessel maintenance, repair, fabrication, construction, or offshore project activities preferred. Experience supporting offshore construction vessels, subsea operations, marine equipment, or vessel reactivation projects is highly desirable. Familiarity with shipyard operations and marine quality systems preferred. Strong knowledge of marine and offshore construction, maintenance, and operational practices. Ability to interpret engineering drawings, fabrication drawings, welding procedures, inspection reports, and technical specifications. Knowledge of quality management systems, inspection processes, and documentation requirements. Familiarity with applicable industry standards, marine regulations, classification society requirements, and client specifications. Experience identifying and documenting non-conformances and corrective actions. Strong attention to detail and organizational skills. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and electronic quality management systems. Ability to work independently and make sound quality-related decisions. Ability to work in office, shipyard, vessel, and offshore environments as required. Strong commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement.
Technical Requirements: Must be proficient and able to effectively work with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Power Point). Must be able to work on Mac computers. Training is available upon request. Must understand document control and file sharing procedures, Dropbox, and other online tools.
Physical Requirements: Able to sit at a desk for prolonged periods while working on a computer. Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times. Ability to communicate effectively via phone, email, and in person. Must possess and maintain the physical ability to safely perform the duties of the position.
