Location: New York City / NYC Area
Pay: $25.00-$30.00 per hour (DOE)
Schedule: Overnight / PM split shifts (must be able to work 8pm-4am and 12am-8am)
About the Role:
We're hiring an experienced Safety Specialist to support safety, compliance, and training across warehouse and transportation/distribution operations. You'll partner closely with operations leadership, warehouse teams, transportation teams, and emergency response personnel to strengthen a proactive safety culture and support a "Mission Zero" injury goal. This is a hands-on role for someone who's comfortable being on the floor in a fast-paced environment and working overnight/PM shifts.
Key Responsibilities:
- Safety Audits & Inspections Conduct routine safety audits, inspections, hazard assessments, and safety observations
- Inspect warehouse floors, loading docks, equipment, work areas, and transportation-related operations
- Identify hazards and recommend corrective actions
- Monitor and reinforce compliance with company safety policies and procedures Incident Investigations Lead investigations for workplace injuries, near misses, accidents, and other safety concerns
- Interview involved parties, document findings, identify root causes, and recommend corrective actions
- Track follow-ups to ensure corrective actions are implemented and effective
- Maintain accurate investigation records and safety documentation Regulatory Compliance Support compliance with OSHA, DOT, EPA, FDNY, and NYC safety requirements
- Stay current on applicable regulations and industry standards
- Help maintain required safety records, inspections, training documentation, and compliance materials Training & Employee Engagement Deliver and support safety training for warehouse and transportation employees
- Conduct toolbox talks, safety meetings, orientations, and refresher training
- Support behavioral-based safety initiatives and engagement programs
- Reinforce safe work practices and promote proactive reporting and prevention
- Help drive the "Mission Zero" injury prevention initiative Cross-Functional Collaboration Partner with supervisors, transportation leadership, and operations management to address safety concerns
- Work with emergency responders and designated safety personnel as needed
- Provide guidance to leaders on safe procedures and employee practices
Qualifications & Requirements
Education:
Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Health & Safety, or related field, OR equivalent hands-on safety experience
Experience:
2+ years of safety/compliance experience in warehouse, manufacturing, distribution, transportation, or logistics Experience conducting inspections, incident investigations, and employee training in operational environments
