The Company:
We have partnered with a leading Independent Power Producer (IPP) in their search for a Director of Structured Finance.
The Role:
The Director of Structured Finance will execute project finance transactions across the company's growing solar portfolio, including construction loans, tax equity, and permanent debt. This is a hands-on role requiring strong financial modeling expertise and the ability to critically evaluate lender and investor models, negotiate financing terms, and drive transactions through to financial close. The role will work closely with Development, Legal, Asset Management, and Corporate Finance teams.
Key Responsibilities:
Financial Modeling & Analysis: Build and maintain detailed project-level financial models supporting construction, tax equity, and permanent debt transactions, Review and challenge lender and investor financial models, identifying differences in assumptions, financing structure, sizing, and returns compared with company underwriting, Perform sensitivity and scenario analyses to evaluate financing risks, optimize debt sizing, and assess impacts on project returns, Support acquisition and development underwriting through project finance structuring analysis. Transaction Execution: Lead construction loan, tax equity, and permanent debt financings from term sheet through financial close, Structure and negotiate key commercial terms including loan sizing, covenants, draw mechanics, flip yields, DSCR requirements, and completion guarantees, Coordinate legal, technical, and financial diligence across multiple transactions, Manage construction loan draw processes and ongoing compliance reporting for existing debt facilities. Relationships & Market Intelligence: Build and maintain relationships with construction lenders, tax equity investors, and permanent debt providers, Stay current on lender appetite, market pricing, and evolving financing structures across the distributed solar sector, Monitor ITC/PTC qualification requirements and ensure projects satisfy applicable tax equity eligibility criteria.
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field; MBA or CFA preferred,5+ years of project finance experience with direct involvement in closing construction loans, tax equity, and/or permanent debt transactions within renewable energy or infrastructure, Expert financial modeling skills, with the ability to build complex project-level models from scratch and rigorously audit and challenge lender and investor models, Deep understanding of solar project finance structures, including partnership flips, inverted leases, back-leverage debt, and construction facilities, Familiarity with ITC/PTC structures and tax equity eligibility and compliance requirements, Strong negotiation skills with a proven ability to drive term sheet and financing documentation negotiations to favorable outcomes, Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple transactions simultaneously while maintaining strong attention to detail, Ability to work directly with private equity sponsor personnel at the deal-team level.
