Position Summary:
The Technical Services Librarian/Instructor oversees cataloging, government documents, systems, and book repair while providing reference instruction and liaison services to support the academic mission of the university community.
Essential Job Duties:
Oversees all cataloging, classification, and processing of library materials in all formats.
Administers library systems including OCLC Cataloging and Metadata, FOLIO ILS, and Spring Share Lib Apps.
Supervises the repair of damaged materials.
Serves as a Federal Depository Library Program (FDLP) liaison.
Creates and maintains Lib Wizard forms for department operations.
Provides instruction on library use and research skills in classroom, online, and reference desk settings.
Serves as liaison to academic departments for research and collection development.
Collaborates with faculty on information literacy curriculum development and special projects.
Participates in university and library committee work.
Maintains current knowledge of emerging trends and best practices through professional development.
Other duties as assigned by supervisor or designee.

Qualifications:
Master's of Library Science from an ALA accredited program - experienced librarians, recent graduates, and current students from ALA-accredited MLS programs are encouraged to apply
1-2 years of experience preferred
Experience with cataloging preferred
Licenses/Certifications
None
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Strong knowledge of principles and practices of academic librarianship
Familiarity with ILS software, AACR2, RDA, Library of Congress Classification, and Library of Congress Subject Headings preferred
Experience with budget management and vendor relations preferred
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Strong organizational and time management abilities
Demonstrated ability to provide effective instruction and reference services
Ability to work collaboratively with faculty, staff, and students
Proficient with Microsoft Office and library software applications
Must have a strong work ethic and lead by example
Must be a professional, credible and respected representative of the institution internally and in the community
Demonstrated willingness and ability to act ethically and socially responsible
Ability to communicate in a courteous manner
Physical Demands:
Frequently required to remain in a seated position for extended periods
Frequently required to move about the office, library, and campus
Frequently required to communicate effectively with diverse populations
Regularly performs tasks that involve repetitive wrist and finger movement
Regularly operates a computer and other standard office equipment

This position operates in a typical office setting within an academic library environment. The work environment has moderate noise levels from conversations, and office equipment. The role involves regular interaction with staff, students, and library patrons.
Supervisory Responsibility
Oversees the work of experienced professionals and subordinate managers, removing obstacles within and across the organization to achieve objectives. May oversee the development of new methods, resolve issues, and regularly advise teams on complex matters.
