Toilet Preparation ManufacturingCosmetics, Beauty Supplies, and Perfume RetailersBiological Product (except Diagnostic) ManufacturingContext We're a DTC beauty brand at eight figures scaling to nine figures. Our catalog today is a small set of hero SKUs made with overseas manufacturers. Right now the founder is the product function. We're hiring the person who takes it. The job in one line: own product from concept to the customer's doorstep — find it, formulate it, get it made overseas, price it, merchandise it, and make sure what shows up at the door is exactly what the ad promised. What you'll own The roadmap. What we launch next. Every SKU has a thesis — subcategory ownership, margin, cycle-2 survival, AOV, or a gift-with-purchase slot — not "it might sell." You kill what doesn't fit. Overseas sourcing & R&D. Manufacturer and OEM/ODM relationships overseas. Source fast to test demand; drive real R&D on the products that become our moat — ingredients, delivery systems, formats, and IP we own. Lead our SKU-level exclusivity negotiations with volume commitments behind them. You hand off at the PO.Landed cost & pricing. True per-unit cost — unit, freight, duties, 3PL, packaging. Price floors, promo floors, bundle and subscription pricing that hold margin. Merchandising & catalog. Assortment, bundles, subscription tiers, GWP mechanics, launch quantities, catalog lifecycle, and how it's structured to sell on Shopify and Amazon. Secondary SKUs get into first-time buyers' hands on purpose, because that's what drives retention. The product itself. Concept to buildable, differentiated spec with the one signature feature that makes it ownable. Approve samples and formulations against it. Product truth. The shoot, the full PDP asset set, packaging and unboxing. Every product represented exactly as it is so ads stay congruent and returns don't spike. Creative markets it; you own the truth of it. Compliance & safety. Ingredient and claims compliance (FDA/MoCRA, INCI, stability and safety testing), packaging claims, and the returns-and-reviews loop back into better product. The launch. Go/no-go call, positioning, timing, margin.
What success looks like:
New products ship on time, on spec, and on margin at a real cadence — not one a year. You know the true landed cost of everything and you hold the line on pricing through every promo. Cycle-2 retention improves because the catalog was built for it, not patched with discounts. Product gets sourced, sampled, and priced without the founder in the loop. Every product shows up online exactly as it is. Customers get what they expected. Required 3+ years owning product and sourcing at a brand that ships physical consumer goods — skincare, beauty, or personal care strongly preferred. You can walk us through SKUs you took from idea to shelf and the margin you held. Existing overseas manufacturer relationships. You can pick up the phone and get a formulation sampled, quoted, and produced. This is the one thing we can't teach. You know your numbers. You build true per-unit cost and hold a margin floor — you don't eyeball it. A builder, not a delegator (yet). You do every bucket yourself first, document it, and hire underneath you as the function earns it. Range. Sourcing, formulation, merchandising, pricing, and creative handoff without dropping any of it.
Bonus:
you've taken a net-new beauty product from concept to shelf, you've operated in a subscription model, you spot ingredient trends before they hit Tik Tok, or you have taste — packaging and formulations that read premium, not white-label. Why this roleA title you'll outgrow on purpose. You're the first product hire. Prove the function, build the team beneath you, and the seat becomes Head of Product. Product is the highest-leverage seat we haven't filled. What you make and how you price it drives both margin and retention. Speed, not sign-off theater. You own the call on what gets made and how it's priced. Good ideas ship in weeks, not quarters. Direct line to the founder. You're in the decisions, not briefed on them afterward. Building toward the exit. We're structuring for a nine-figure exit in 2028. The catalog and margins you create are the thing being valued.
