Ergon Asphalt and Emulsions - Environmental Engineer

Overview In this role, you will manage environmental permitting, compliance, and project support for assigned asphalt and emulsions facilities. You will serve as a key environmental resource to Operations and EHS teams, ensuring adherence to federal, state, and local regulations. You will collaborate with plant leadership and regulatory agencies to mitigate environmental risk and support capital projects. The position offers exposure to multiple facilities across a national footprint and opportunities to influence environmental strategy and performance. Compensation / Benefits Competitive pay 401(k) matching & profit sharing Health, Dental, Vision, and Life Insurance Paid holidays, vacation, and sick leave Tuition assistance Disability plans Responsibilities Environmental compliance management for air, water, waste, and spill prevention programs Lead permit applications, renewals, and modifications; assess permitting impacts of operational changes Support environmental reviews for capital projects and process changes; drive best practices across facilities Coordinate data collection and reporting; respond to audits, inspections, and agency inquiries Mentor junior staff and communicate regulatory requirements to non-technical stakeholders Key requirements 3–6 years of environmental engineering or compliance experience Experience supporting multiple facilities or dispersed footprint (preferred)Strong knowledge of environmental regulations affecting asphalt/chemical manufacturing Experience with air permitting and/or water and waste compliance (preferred)Travel readiness (approx. 25–40%)MS Office proficiency; ability to translate regulatory requirements into operational guidance Engineer‑in‑Training (EIT) or Professional Engineer (PE) license (preferred)Experience working with regulatory agencies (preferred)Strong written and verbal communication Ability to manage multiple priorities with minimal supervision Regulatory interpretation for non-technical audiences Air permitting (Title V, NSR)Water and waste compliance (MSGP, SPCC, RCRA)Regulatory reporting and audits
