Organ Recovery Surgeon

Assumes on-call responsibilities as required to assure adequate coverage for donor activity and must be available to surgically recover organs at the specified time. Supports compliance to CMS and UNOS regulations and AOPO standards and/or other medical/legal requirements. Provides education and training to OPO staff and hospital personnel involved in the donation process. Serves as an advisor between the organization and hospital staff when organ procurement is in progress. The ideal candidate will have the following education and work experience qualifications: Medical Doctor (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO), board certified in general surgery with a current licensure 5+ years of experience in organ recovery and transplantation, medical management of organ donors, and/or in critical care Availability for weekdays and weekends of donor recovery call (number of call days to be determined) Well-developed interpersonal communication skills necessary to interact with all management, supervisors, and staff.
