Principal Engineer IIIAre you ready to take charge of engineering activities that elevate Spectrum's telecommunications and signal processing systems? As a Principal Engineer III, you will collaborate closely with technical operations staff on system design and configuration, acting as the recognized technical and design expert. You will lead design teams and provide guidance to team leaders.
Responsibilities
How You'll Make an Impact: Handle the most complex and critical projects that involve several technical systems and constituents. Design, implement, monitor, enhance and troubleshoot systems in assigned areas. Analyze and revise existing system logic difficulties and documentation as necessary; Test and review system designs. Provide a high level of Engineering Technical support and guidance to regional personnel and ensure all technical integration, changes, standards and documentation are met. Mentor and guide the work of senior technical staff. Review work plans and designs and advise on improvements. Adhere to industry specific local, state, and federal regulations, as applicable.
Qualifications: What You'll Bring to Spectrum
Required Qualifications:
  • Education Master's or Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field or related work experience
  • Experience 16+ years engineering work experience 16+ years project management work experience
  • Skills Ability to read, write, speak and understand English
  • Expert knowledge of related industry specifications and standards IEEE, ANSI, Fiber (Multimode, Single mode, UTP, etc.), Bridging, Switching, Routing, Ethernet and Transport technologies and protocols
  • Expert knowledge in network design, network architecture, protocols and network topology
  • Expert knowledge in TCP/IP and the OSI ModelBasic knowledge in using ticketing and software tools to support the current operations
  • Expert knowledge of network devices and basic network appliances
  • Expert knowledge of network designing software, such as Visio
  • Ability to perform duties in a very fast-paced environment and learn new technology quickly
  • Ability to use personal computer and software applications
Preferred Qualifications: Education Cisco Certified Internetwork Expert (CCIE) Industry and vendor specific certifications and training preferred (Cisco, Juniper, Alcatel-Lucent, etc.)Skills Knowledge of company products and services
