This position supports the day-to-day execution of HR and payroll processes, including processing HR transactions in Workday, supporting payroll and timekeeping compliance, maintaining employee records, and coordinating onboarding activities. The HR & Payroll Coordinator assists with personnel administration for faculty, staff, students, and contingent employees, ensuring transactions are processed accurately and in compliance with university policies and procedures. This role works closely with CGS leadership, School of Public Policy administration, and central university offices to support efficient HR and payroll operations. The position reports to the Manager of Human Resources and plays a key role in maintaining accurate employment records, supporting payroll reporting and compliance, and assisting with the coordination of HR administrative processes across the Center.

Physical Demands:
General office duties and tasks, may need to occasionally lift boxes with papers and other documents, up to 20lbs. This is primarily sedentary work. Repetitive typing motions involved. Work takes place in both an office environment and in on-campus buildings; will require ability to travel throughout campus. While position is not physically demanding, incumbent must be able to perform well under strict deadlines.
Minimum Qualifications
Education: Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
Experience:
One (1) year of professional human resources or payroll experience. Other: Additional work experience as defined above may be substituted on a year for year basis for up to four (4) years of the required education. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES:Knowledge of human resources policies and procedures, and federal, state, and other applicable human resources related laws, rules, regulations, and ordinances. Knowledge of payroll functions. Skill in the use of Microsoft Office products. Ability to multi-task and prioritize assignments. Ability to analyze situations and determine the best recourse for response.
