About the Role:
Our client is a growing Southern California electrical contractor specializing in large-scale electrical construction. The Electrical Superintendent will lead field execution for major multifamily electrical construction projects in the San Diego market. This role will oversee day-to-day field operations, manpower, materials, equipment, scheduling, safety, quality, and productivity. The ideal candidate has significant experience managing electrical construction on large-scale multifamily projects, including apartments, college dormitories, military housing, or similar high-density developments. Single-family residential experience alone will not meet the requirements for this position. Plan and coordinate manpower, materials, equipment, subcontractors, and project logistics. Lead, develop, and hold Foremen and field personnel accountable for safety, quality, and productivity. Monitor project schedules, productivity, job costs, forecasting, and quality. Partner with Project Management and the General Superintendent to anticipate manpower needs and project challenges. Ensure electrical installations comply with the NEC, applicable building codes, contract documents, and project specifications. Maintain accurate field documentation, including reports, job diaries, and as-builts. Coordinate with general contractors, owners, and other project stakeholders. Drive a strong safety culture and ensure company safety policies and procedures are followed. Identify and resolve potential project issues before they impact schedule, cost, or performance. Oversee Foremen and electrical crews based on project size and complexity. Ensure projects are executed safely, efficiently, on schedule, and within budget.
Qualifications:
California General Electrician Journeyperson License required.10+ years of experience managing and/or overseeing multifamily electrical construction projects for an electrical contractor.
Strong experience with large-scale multifamily projects such as apartments, college dormitories, military housing, or comparable high-density developments.
Demonstrated ability to successfully deliver projects safely, on schedule, and within budget.
Proven field leadership experience managing Foremen and electrical crews.
Strong understanding of electrical construction methods, NEC requirements, and applicable building codes.
Strong organizational, planning, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to communicate effectively with field teams, Project Management, General Contractors, owners, and other stakeholders.
Comfortable using common construction and business technology.
Experience with PlanGrid, Bluebeam, AccuBid, Excel, or similar systems is beneficial.
OSHA 30 certification preferred.
CPR and First Aid certifications preferred.
Work Environment & Physical Demands:
Primarily field-based on active multifamily construction projects.
Regularly required to walk active construction sites and inspect electrical work.
Ability to work around construction equipment, materials, elevated work areas, and varying job site conditions.
Must be comfortable working in a fast-paced construction environment.
Ability to travel to project locations throughout the San Diego area as required.
